Aion Cultura operates in several sectors related to Italy's cultural
resources. Joining together experts in archaeology, art history, ancient history
and environment, the organization offers a series of services created for
persons in these professions but also for schools and ordinary people interested
in these studies.
Didactic programs
Aion Cultura offers study programs for every scolastic level and
for groups of interested individuals relating to the discovery of our
cultural resources - archaeological, historical, artistic and environmental -
for a specific area or city through interdisciplinary projects and activities.
These are divided into four categories: museums and archaeological sites,
libraries and archives, experimental archaeology and special seminars. All
activities provide ample opportunity for experimentation, practical application
and enjoyment.
Cultural Tourism
Aion Cultura's experts organize and conduct archaeological excursions,
trips and tours to discover the extraordinary and magnificent
sites and rich museums our territory has to offer.
Archaeology and Archaeo-Tours
"Hands on" archaeology is of particular interest to Aion, the
members of which actively participate on archaeological excavations at different
sites in Tuscany and Umbria. In this participatory context we also organize
Archaeological Programs Abroad for school-age children.
It is possible to book visits to a variety of sities of archaeological
interest in and around Cortona.
Tours are conducted by professional archaeologists and include visits to
Melon I and II (monumental tumulae dating from the 7th-6th c. B.C.), to the
Angori and Pitagora Tanelle (2nd c. B.C. tombs), the Melone Francois in Camucia
and, within the city, the ancient walls and city gates, the cistern in Via
Guelfa and Palazzo Cerulli's etruscan arc.
Museums and Cultural Parks
Aion's associates are particulary well prepared in the organization of cultural
itineraries, special events, didactic programs as well as museum
management, preparation of exhibitions with related scientific
material and promotion of archaeological sites.
We also organize professional preparitory courses for those wishing to enter
into the working world of cultural management.
You could find us at the Museum of
Accademia Etrusca (0575 637235) or at the Diocesan Museum (0575
62830).
In this one, from the 19th of April
through September Aion will offer guided tours daily at 10,30 and 12,00 a.m.
Cortona
Cortona, with its two museums, innumerable churches and spectacular views up
and down Medieval streets is home to the offices of Aion Cultura and offers
visitors an ample choice of cultural pursuits.
The remains of the Etruscan and Roman civilisations are scattered throughout
the city and surrounding areas (including the extraordinary sixth century
B.C. tumulae) as well as in the Museum of Accademia Etrusca, while traces of the
Renaissance period can be seen in the Fortezza del Girifalco, which dominates
the heights of Mount St. Egidio.
